 Fighting Guide

This will include:

  • Introduction.
  • Basics.
  • Advanced.
  • Things to keep in mind.

Introduction.

What is fighting? Well, it's when two cats pit against each other to see whom is better physically. Usually this happens when cats get angry at one another, are defending something, or sometimes for play. The difference between play and not play, is claws. When play, they are safely sheathed.

I will be covering some basics on how to RPG fight. I will also throw in some advanced, like double-teaming and clan fights. Also, and most important, things you MUST keep in mind when RPG fighting.

Basics.

Okay, so we'll start with two cats. Let's name them "Littleface" and "Blackfoot," shall we? So, Littleface and Blackfoot don't get along and, GASP, get into a fight. How would that go about? Let's see!

Littleface: The lithe she-cat gave a low, threatening hiss. With eyes narrowed in annoyance, tail flicking back and forth aggresivaly, she lunged at the tom before her. Unsheathed, deadly claws raked through the air to strike Blackfoot's face.

Let's break this down. We have some description of the anger, and then a lunge. This gets the cat closer, and into hitting range. It is extremely important to do this! Your cat cannot throw an attack from a long distance, it's impossible. Next, an attack was stated. Notice how it was NEVER stated that anything HIT. It is simply a statement of what was ATTEMPTED. To immediently say something hit is GODMODING, which is a big no-no. How would Blackfoot respond? There are two ways.

Blackfoot: The tom gave a yowl of pain as Littleface's claws broke through flesh. Blood whelled from the wounds as he tottered backwards a few pawsteps.

OR

Blackfoot: The tom let his paws carry him to the side, out of range of the angry she-cat's attack. His ears flattened against his skull as he thought of how close those deadly claws came to him.

'Kay! Time to break this down too. The first one allowed the attack to hit, describing how it hit and what it did. The second described how Blackfoot got out of the way. The one being attacked choses if it hits, or not. Also how much damage was done. From here, Blackfoot could do a counter-attack and so on and so forth.

Advanced.

Now that we have the basics covered, let's discuss some advanced fighting. What would advanced fighting be? Double-teaming and clan fights.

Double-teaming is when two or more cats attack one cat. So, let's say Littleface had a mate, Gloryheart. He gets mad at Blackfoot for Littleface's sake, and helps her. We'll use the previous example.

Littleface: The lithe she-cat gave a low, threatening hiss. With eyes narrowed in annoyance, tail flicking back and forth aggresivaly, she lunged at the tom before her. Unsheathed, deadly claws raked through the air to strike Blackfoot's face.

Now, Gloryheart would jump in.

Gloryheart: Seeing his mate lash out at Blackfoot, Gloryheart gave a hiss as he bounded over towards the two. Coming up to the side, he thrust his weight forward to knock against Blackfoot's side.

Now poor Blackfoot is double-teamed. With two attacks to attend to, it will be nearly impossible for both to miss. So, this is something that could happen.

Blackfoot: Blackfoot nimbly leaned away from Littleface's claws before they struck his face. He began to turn, when Gloryheart crashed into his body. The air fled from his chest as he struggled beneath the weight of Gloryheart.

Clan-fighting is when the whole clan is in a battle with something, or another clan. It would be like double-teaming except with MANY cats around.

Things to remember.

Never state that something hit, it is up to the one being attack if it hits and what it does. No godmodding!

Dodging must be reasonable, if you are cornered, it is nearly impossible to dodge an attack! Be fair.

Keep in mind the proportion of your cat: large, small, muscular, scrawny, big, lean, ect. This will play an important role in how/when you can dodge, and how powerful your attacks are! Also keep in mind rank, warriors USUALLY defeat apprentices, and kits can barely attack!

First and foremost, BE FAIR. If it's fair, then RPG fighting can be a lot of fun. Hope this helps!
